WHO’S LOS

who’s los = music + tech + community

Carlos Hood, better known as Who’s Los, is a DC-based rapper, musician, host, and storyteller with a STEM-forward mindset. As a STEM educator and Apple Learning Coach, he’s spent years helping young people build confidence with technology, from writing their first lines of code to designing 3D models. One of his favorite moments is when a student takes what he taught them and comes back with an idea he never would’ve thought of.

That same curiosity drives his work as an AI and AR trailblazer. Los uses AI to test ideas and build workflows, and he experiments with augmented reality to give music a life beyond the speakers. One of his favorite prototypes is a miniature AR concert stage he built on an iPad. He gave it a green backdrop so he could place performance footage inside the stage during editing and see what a concert might look like right on a tabletop.

As a rapper and musician, Los writes, produces, plays keys, and performs. Taking the stage at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater was a turning point in how he saw himself as a performer. He’s opened for Kweku Collins at Union Stage and made his international debut at 777 Cyphers in Toronto. Whether he’s writing a verse or sitting down at the keys, he’s drawn to the details that make a story feel like it could only come from the person telling it.

As a host and storyteller, Los creates spaces where people feel comfortable sharing ideas before they’re fully formed. He started The Call Up Sessions at his home studio to bring DMV artists together in an intimate setting and give them room to see what they could make. His single Fever (Get It Poppin) came out of those sessions. That’s the feeling he looks for in the experiences he hosts today, when someone comes through to see what’s happening and ends up part of the story.

As an Apple Learning Coach and Apple App Development in Swift Specialist, Carlos Hood brings a builder’s mindset to STEM education. He’s put those skills to work leading an Apple Community Education Initiative partnership, coaching educators on how to use iPads in their programs, and helping young people turn their ideas into code. His goal is to give people the confidence to pick up a new tool, try an idea, and make something of their own.
